As I have mentioned before, I moved into a place of my own about nine months ago. Since I was a freshman in college I have always had roommates, which has been some of the most fun I have ever had and houses some of my favorite memories of my twenties. There is just something special to be said about living with others who become your best friends and you share your lives with. However, I was at a point where I felt like it was time to be on my own, and to be honest these past 9 months I feel like I have grown and developed more personally than ever before…. maybe it has just been a “season of life” that I have gone through, however I feel like it also has to do with the freedom of truly being on my own in my first place.
I think more than anything I was most excited about decorating my new space and truly making it a representation of my personality and personal style. A space I was proud of, and enjoyed coming home to. And oh my goodness, it is safe to say that decorating is a dang PROCESS. Which was frustrating at first…. but I found that if I didn’t absolutely love something just to hold off and wait because that perfect coffee table or bar cart would come along, I just needed to be patient! I decided to tackle the decorating process one room at a time, and I started with my living/dining area (see a full post of it decorated for Christmas here). After that, my bank account took a break for a few months and in February I decided it was time to move on to my bedroom!
I have found that the bedroom is kind of a tricky space to decorate. You want a space that is beautiful and aligns with your style, but your bedroom also needs to be your cozy space where you go to relax and unwind. I had been “browsing” for awhile brainstorming exactly what look I was going for, “must have” pieces, and decor inspo. They say that often you will find one “hero piece” to start with and then a lot of times you will work the design around that! Well, that is exactly what happened when I found this white chest at Wisteria Home Decor. With this room I was looking for a few classic pieces mixed with some glamorous and modern accents and color. The gorgeous white chest with the brass ring pulls was what kicked off my bedroom makeover process! Wisteria is one of my absolute favorite places in Dallas for home decor and gifts– when my mom was remodeling and decorating we always made a trip to Wisteria every time she came to Dallas! They have such a great variety of classic and timeless pieces, as well as more modern styles (acrylic, marble, etc.) as well! I was so excited to work with them on my bedroom design, but I have to say it was SO hard because there were so many things I loved and as you can see I had limited space to work with! There are a lot of items in this post so I will try my best to give you exact details on everything you see! As always, if you have any questions on specific items you can always reach out!
I wanted to keep my room fairly neutral with the all white bedding, headboard, and chest with some glam accents like my mirrored nightstands, gold moroccan mirrors, and then of course some pops of color with my pillows + accents and prints. I am so happy with how everything turned out and I am taking advantage of having a feminine space all of my own- because I doubt my future husband would ever agree to a pink and gold bedroom! Ha!
**Thank you so much to Wisteria for partnering with Gal About Town on this post. As always, all opinions are my own.**
