Holy moly you guys! I turned 27 years old yesterday. The past few years I honestly haven’t felt that different celebrating another year, but this year has been a year of changes and personal growth and I finally feel like I am evolving into the person I am destined to be and the life I am meant to live. My sweet friend Molly who blogs at The Fashion Veggie posted this quote the other day and it really hit home for me:
“She understood that the hardest times in life to go through were those when you were transitioning from one version of yourself to another.”- Sarah Addison Allen
This past year has been a year of changes. Changes in my career, my beliefs, my relationships, my habits, my priorities, my perspective. With those I have changed. I believe this past year has been one of the most pivotal years of my life. I am constantly working on becoming my best self. These changes can be scary, and there have been so many times where I have felt alone and as if some people in my life were not evolving with me during this time. And sometimes that feeling sucks. Feeling like your life is going one direction and others are not along for the ride. Just to clarify, I am not being a debby downer here. I have so many special people in my life who are my biggest supporters and motivators. More than anything, this has been a year of navigating and embracing self-love. Seeing myself through Gods eyes and knowing that he is guiding me every step of the way through these changes.
I will be honest, I was really not excited about turning 27 these past few weeks. However, the more I have thought and prayed about it the more I have embraced that this is going to be such a great year. I took the time earlier this week to write down 27 goals I wanted to achieve for my 27th year. Some are personal, some work related, some random but I wanted to share with you guys!
- Take the time to support or make someone feel special (even the smallest thing) at some point every day.
- Continue to grow my relationship with the Lord. Completing my daily devotional and “quiet time” every morning first thing when I wake up.
- Pay off my credit cards every month and implement a budget.
- Travel. Anywhere and everywhere.
- Delete emails after reading them (I am the actual worst).
- Find a charity I am passionate about volunteering and serving my time to.
- Date with intention.
- Host a dinner party.
- Pick up the phone and call someone I care about (even if just for 5 min) once everyday.
- Improve my time management (hello ADD)
- Work out 2-3x a week.
- Stop buying food for 17 people when I go to the grocery store. Oh, and stop going to the grocery store hungry.
- Write more hand written notes and letters.
- Start saving for a down payment on my first home (goal is to purchase my first home by 30)
- Purchase a new DSLR camera.
- Get Ellie (my almost 7 year old golden retriever) on a doggy diet and exercise plan so she can live forever.
- Learn how to use photoshop.
- Post on my blog consistently (the goal is 4x a week!)
- Read one book a month.
- Unplug. Stop sleeping by my phone.
- Drink more water.
- Connect with 10 people who inspire me both personally and professionally.
- Master 10 new recipes.
- Stop worrying about where my life is compared to everyone elses. Trusting in God’s plan for me.
- Speak on a panel.
- Go on a vacation with my family
- Write down something I am thankful for everyday.
