I think we all can agree that hair wash day is the worstttt. If you have been following me for awhile now, you probably know that I only wash my hair once a week or less. IT CAN BE DONE PEOPLE (without your hair looking like a greaseball on day 7 at that). One of my most frequent questions and most requested posts is how I can go so long between washes…well, I am here to share my secrets and what I have found works for me! #Sponsored
- First things first and this is probably the most difficult part. You have to train your hair- basically I had to slowly train my hair to last 7+ days between washes. If you are currently washing your hair every day start the first week by washing it every other day, then week 2 washing it every 2 days, week 3 every 3-4 days and so on until you work your way up.
- Keep your hands off. Seriously, don’t be messing or running your fingers through your hair/scalp constantly. Use a brush or a comb.
- Products in between washes. Probably one of the most important is the products I use to extend my washes. I have been using the Dove Care Between Washes line from Walmart. You guys these products were specifically made to help you achieve second day (or in my case seven day) hair! My top two favorite products I use are the Invisible Dry Shampoo, I cannot tell you how hard it has been to find an invisible dry shampoo for my dark hair. Even dry shampoos that claim to be invisible… aren’t. The struggle. This one goes on completely clear and cleanses my roots. I spray it all over the crown of my head, my part, and near my hairline. Next I love the Dove Rehydrating Mist to keep the rest of my hair hydrated between washing. For this product, I spray it all over the ends and middle of my hair to leave it hydrated and refreshed. I often also take my blow dryer to lock it in + give some extra volume.
- Less is more. Make sure you’re not using too much product- this can just build up and weigh your hair down. In turn, your washes won’t last as long.
Keep in mind these tips and results will vary by person depending on your hair type, activities, etc. but these are the products and practices I swear by to achieve healthy, hydrated, and voluminous hair that lasts between washes.
