“If I can’t bring my dog, I’m not going”. Haha well, maybe that’s not entirely true, but pretty close. I am obsessed with my fur children Ellie (age 9), and Banks (7 months) and pretty much bring them everywhere with me they are allowed. Coffee shops, patios, dog parks, the lake, and trails around Dallas are some of our most frequent destinations. Nothing makes them happier than going on adventures (they are thrilled when they get to go for a ride in the car period ha), and being around people and other dogs.
Considering the active and on-the-go lifestyle we live, it’s beyond important to me that I am taking the best care of my pups and their health. Both of them have different needs at this stage of life right now. Banks is maturing from a puppy to an adult (and boy does he have some energy), and Ellie is a senior dog who gets around at just a littleee bit slower pace, especially compared to her puppy brother.
One of my concerns, specifically with Ellie, is joint pain and osteoarthritis. This is the “wear and tear” on the joints and it occurs when the cartilage or cushion between joints breaks down. It leads to pain, stiffness, and swelling and can be common in their breed. I want to take any preventative measures I can to keep them as comfortable and active as possible throughout their lives. I have incorporated Flexadin® Advanced with UC-II® into our morning routine before I feed them breakfast. Flexadin® Advanced with UC-II® is a joint supplement chew that contains UC-II, a proprietary form of undenatured type II collagen. This breakthrough formula, backed by clinical studies, supports healthy joints and flexibility and helps to ease joint stiffness in dogs and cats. This can be used at any stage so I give it to Banks as well! I never want my babies to be uncomfortable so this is a no brainer for me, and I love that it’s just a simple chew vs a pill so I don’t have to sneak it into their food or treats. Both pups have been on Flexadin® Advanced with UC-II® for 60 days now and I have been super pleased with their energy + activity levels, flexibility, and appetite.
No matter what your dogs (or cats) age or breed may be I would definitely recommend taking preventative measures to make their health a priority outside of just their diet.
