Y’all… let me just start out by saying I have never LOVED working out. I know some of you are rare breeds who love the gym, and it’s the highlight of your day, but that never has and never will be my mindset. As an athlete through high school where physical activity was always integrated into my day it has been hard these past 8 years to figure out a workout routine that works for me. I have tried it all. Kickboxing, Yoga, Crossfit, Spin…. and I am literally wanting to cry right now thinking about all the money I have probably wasted buying memberships to some of these only to attend maybe twice a month IF that. However, I will say I always have known that in order for me to get the most out of my workouts I need to be in a group environment. Not only to push me, but as a sense of community– and to look over and know that the girl next to me is dying too and I’m not alone! HA!
I also want to note that my fitness journey has been just that…. a journey! I want to save that for another post because that is a whole other story, and a personal one, at that! So I will definitely be diving into greater detail on that here soon. Today I want to share my FAVORITE workout in Dallas. If you have been following me on Instagram you have probably seen many of my stories that I have been a tiny (okay, a lot) obsessed with Tread Barre.
But What Exactly is Tread Barre?
Tread Barre is a class broken up into intervals where you can run (or walk) on the treadmill, then switch over to workouts on the floor using the Pilates chair and spring board, free weights, and resistance bands. It is seriously the ultimate full body workout with cardio AND weights. I personally love it because I typically HATE cardio– however when broken up into intervals it makes it go by so much faster, plus they play the best music which seriously makes it so much more fun (errr, bearable). I have loved it because literally anyone can do it (I am pretty sure there was a woman who was at least 6 months pregnant in my class yesterday), you can start at your own pace and push yourself to work your way up– especially during the cardio sections. Like I said, I have never been a runner but have been amazed at how I have been able to push myself physically and mentally in this class.
One thing that has really helped hold me accountable to making it to my classes at Tread Barre is that they have an app! It’s actually SO nice because I am able to schedule them on the go and book all my classes ahead of time through the app! Also having a workout buddy ALWAYS helps! If any of you would like to try it I would LOVE for you to join me anytime! They are located off of Lovers and Hillcrest right behind SMU. I have truly tried a ton of workouts and so far this has not only kept me on track with my fitness goals, but also contributed to many personal goals I have set for myself in my workout routines. If running/cardio isn’t your cup of tea, or if you are looking for another workout to add to your routine you HAVE to try their Pilates Barre studios as well (more on that soon)!
