Hello lovelies! As you know, Gal About Town primarily covers fashion (because, stick to what ya know, and this girl knows clothes). However, I am excited to dabble in some other verticals such as beauty, home, lifestyle, and posts for crazy dog moms! Because while I do love me some fashion, there are many other things I am passionate about and want to share with you guys as well!
Now, lets cut to the chase– let’s talk eyelash extensions!
A few weeks ago I got eyelash extensions for the first time ever! Quite a few of my friends have theirs done, and of course i oogle over them. But I will be honest, I never really understood why people were so obsessed with getting them done…..until I got mine. Cue angels singing!
So real talk: I really don’t enjoy the process of putting on makeup and getting ready. God bless you girls who wake up everyday and put on your makeup and do your hair– I am doing good if one or the other happens in my morning routine. So I was attracted to the idea of having full lashes, because that is one less step for me #lazy. Also, I love how it gives the illusion of looking put together, with minimal (or no) effort. So when I decided to take the plunge and give lashes a try, I was super particular of what salon I went to– because there are literally a million in Dallas. After some research, I decided to partner with the lovely ladies from The Lash Exchange to take my lash extension virginity.
I was pretty nervous about the lash process, not wanting to damage my current lashes, or be poked in the eye (lol). Tianna and Deanna (who btw know their stuff, not only are they the best of the best lash artists, but they also train other artists) explained that it is when the extensions aren’t isolated properly that they can damage your lashes. The key is application, having an artist that is properly trained, and of course how you care for them afterward!
For the first 24 hours following the appointment you do not want to get your lashes wet! Following that, it is advised that you wash them and remove makeup using a gentle oil-free cleanser. However I only wear eyeliner and mascara on the bottom eyes/lashes…but I still used an oil-free makeup remover and am extra gentle. They also give you a little eyelash brush for you to brush/tame them daily! It is also advised that you don’t sleep on them– this one was kind of tough for me because I am typically a stomach sleeper! So far I have done a pretty good job of this– that is unless I have a few glasses of wine before bed, oops! All in all, they are pretty easy to care for!
Following the application (which took about 2 hours) I go in for fills every 2-4 weeks! To check out a little bit more on the process, make sure to check out their Instagram @thelashexchange — they are even able to make your lash shape and fullness completely custom to your liking! I knew I wanted lots of volume– hey, go big or go home! So they hooked me up with the most beautiful volume lashes. Thank you so much Tianna and Diana for making me feel like a total #babe, I am totally an eyelash extension believer now. Like I said, I get it. If you have any other questions regarding my experience I would love to share with you, because of course I had a million questions at first as well!
