In October, I had the pleasure of attending an event here in Dallas with the MacKenzie-Childs team. I was of course familiar with MacKenzie-Childs, but honestly did not know a lot about the brand- aside from the fact that pretty much every single one of my friends owned one of their courtly check tea kettles, except me! Ha – (don’t worry I am now the proud owner of one too)!
At the event, the team brought the world (and their evident passion) of MacKenzie-Childs to Dallas. They told us stories, shared their experiences, and went into detail about how MacKenzie-Childs pieces are made. Did you know many of them are handmade, and painted?! We even hand painted our own pieces while there- it was so much fun! I left with so much love and appreciation for the MacKenzie-Childs brand and team for the thought, time and detail that goes into every piece. I was also excited to have some of my own to start making memories with.
During the holidays I love to host all my girlfriends over for a fancy girls dinner. What’s better than getting all dressed up with your girlfriends and having wine + some yummy food? I love hosting (not so much cleaning up lol), and making memories. I still remember growing up as a kid having Christmas dinner at my grandmothers grand dining table, and I vividly remember her dinnerware that we always used. I am so excited to start making those memories myself with my MacKenzie-Childs pieces!
For my dinnerware I went with the MacKenzie-Childs Sweetbriar Collection. I loved how feminine these pieces were, and I also figured they would be perfect to mix with other pieces I might collect through the years. The beaded and white check detail on the chargers and dinner plates give me heart eyes- they are so beautiful! I also got the Sweetbriar platters and bowls for serving- maybe the presentation will make up for the fact that I am not the best cook! Ha (Don’t worry we are working on that).
While I decided to keep my dining table a little more neutral and light- I wanted to have some fun with my cookware! When I think of MacKenzie-Childs I think of whimsical, fun, and making a statement. I wanted to bring that into my kitchen with some cookware from the Flower Market Collection. I just look at these pieces, and they make me smile. While at the MacKenzie-Childs event I was chatting with the Creative Director, Rebecca Proctor and telling her how I love having beautiful pieces in my home but I am scared to use them and typically only will pull them out for special events. She enthusiastically turns to me telling me that these pieces are made to be enjoyed year round, not stored away. What is the fun of owning such beautiful pieces if you do not allow yourself to enjoy them? All MacKenzie-Childs pieces are so well made and durable because they are made to be used and loved. So as soon as many of my pieces arrived, I put my “plain, everyday” dinnerware on the top shelves and replaced with all of my new MacKenzie-Childs pieces and have been using and enjoying them for 2 months now. Rebecca was right 🙂
I wish I could invite you all over for dinner (seriously how fun would that be?), but for now I am just so happy to share my little tablescape with you all. If you have any MacKenzie-Childs pieces I would love to see how you included them in your home or dining table!
