Ohhhh my goodness you guys! It is officially November so I feel like girls everywhere just go crazy and into “cozy” mode. Coffee, candles, pajamas, scarves, sweaters… guilty across the board. Honestly, fall and winter are probably some of my favorite seasons- clothing wise. Also because you can indulge for a few months and cover it up with a cozy sweater vs a bikini! Haha
I was going through my closet the other day doing a little refresh of what I wanted to keep vs donate/sell and I realized all of my winter items (sweaters, jeans, jackets) that I kept were items that I splurged on a bit (when I say splurge I mean over $100– which is above average what I would usually pay for an item), and all of the items being donated were my H&M, Target, and Forever 21 items. I will say as I have gotten older my shopping habits have changed through the years, when it used to make sense to me to buy 5 items at Forever 21 vs 1 item at Nordstrom- I have realized that all of those items quickly get donated or tossed, while my higher quality items stay in my closet for years.
Earlier this fall I made a list of a few items I wanted to find to add to my closet that I knew I would wear for years– and a few good sweaters were at the top of my list. No surprise here but I was stalking Nordstrom once fall sweaters started to hit the stores and came across this Free People sweater and it came in hot pink! Of course if you know me, you know that spoke to me immediately. Free People is a brand I purchase consistently at Nordstrom so I knew that their quality (especially the sweaters– I have quite a few) was great so I purchased this sweater in hot pink and looked like a psycho wearing it in August but I loved it that much. I have this thing where if I find something I love and it comes in multiple colors I then want to buy them all (I meannn this is only if I REALLY love something) so I went out and bought the sweater in black that you see here and also in white! Safe to say this will be my “it” sweater of the season and worth every penny– you will def see it styled again on the blog and my Instagram.
It’s funny that I am styled head to toe in black here because I used to joke that I literally owned zero black– but I have been slowly adding more and more black to my closet here over the past few months, like who am I? When putting this outfit together I just felt like it looked SO chic! However, I had to add my own personal touch to it by adding a pop of color or print– enter this leopard scarf and my turquoise tassel earrings.
You can shop this look below and I have also rounded up some of my favorite fall sweaters available at Nordstrom:
